Materials List

 

For both teachers, there are student lists of both REQUIRED and RECOMMENDED MATERIALS. Please review these carefully.

We will provide ACADEMY MATERIALS, such as the Prepared Panels, the ingredients for making the Painting Mediums, the Easels & Mahlsticks, the Bowls to mix glazes, and the Brush Washing solvents.

We also have a set of Academy Oils & Acrylics on hand, but students are strongly recommended to bring their own Oil / Acrylic paints.

Autumn Skye Morrison Materials List:

Here is a list of materials for Autumn Skye’s students:

For Acrylic Painting:

  • REQUIRED
  • “Stawet Handy Palette” (or similar enclosed palette with sponge-sheet to keep acrylics moist)
  • Spritzer bottle
  • Variety of brushes ranging from small round detail brushes to wide square or filbert brushes (for acrylics preferably white nylon) Suggested (a couple of each): Rounds- 1,2, 3,5,6 Square- 1/4”, 1/2”, 3/8”, 3/4”, 1”, 2” 
  • REQUIRED ACRYLIC PAINTS (Strongly suggested: Golden Fluid Acrylics, 1 oz/30 ml should be adequate):
  • Titanium White
  • Raw Umber
  • Raw Sienna -or- Indian Yellow -or- Yellow Oxide (recommended)
  • Burnt Sienna -or- Red Oxide (recommended)
  • RECOMMENDED ACRYLIC PAINTS (Strongly suggested: Golden Fluid Acrylics, 1 oz/30 ml should be adequate):
  • Paynes Grey
  • Carbon Black
  • Transparent Red Iron Oxide
  • Ultramarine Blue or some deep/rich blue
  • Phthalo Blue
  • Green Gold 
  • Sap Green
  • Hookers Green
  • Cerulean Blue
  • Dioxazine Purple
  • Quinacridone Violet 
  • Naples Yellow
  • Cadmium Red Deep (or a deep brilliant red)
  • Cadmium Orange Medium (or a rich brilliant orange)
  • Cadmium Yellow light (or a bright brilliant yellow)

For Drawing:

  • REQUIRED:
  • Sketchbook 
  • drawing tools: pencils, Sharpie marker, fine tipped pens, eraser
  • any printed photographs that you wish to use for reference or inspiration
  • brown and white “Stabilo” pencil
  • any further tools for painting process that you choose: ruler, compass, circle makers, sponges, toothbrush, pencil sharpener, etc. 

The Academy will supply the following materials for Autumn Skye’s students (you may bring your own, if you wish…):

  • Liquitex Glazing Medium
  • Golden “Fluid” – Titanium White and Black
  • 16 x 20 inches canvas board
  • Cotton sheets for rags
  • Tracing paper
  • Transfer paper
  • Large newsprint
  • A4 plastic sleeves to protect reference photocopies
  • Chalk
